I agree completely. Doing nothing is an essential part of doing everything. I think that without some fallow periods, we lose our creativity, our objectivity, and our patience and compassion. I guess the only paradox is, from that perspective “doing nothing” is really doing something!

Great post. I know exactly how you feel. Every time I have to travel for work I’m torn between enjoying the amenities and missing the kids. You notice all the families traveling together and it always makes you a bit sad.
